Membership Terms & Conditions
Please read the following terms and conditions carefully. By completing your membership application and submitting payment, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to all of the terms set out below.
1. Insurance
All members are required to hold valid metal detecting insurance for the duration of their membership. Membership will not be active until proof of valid insurance has been provided. It is the sole responsibility of the member to ensure their insurance remains current and does not lapse. The club reserves the right to suspend membership privileges where a member cannot demonstrate valid insurance coverage.
By joining, you confirm that your insurance is current and that you agree to maintain valid insurance for the entire duration of your membership.
2. Legal Responsibilities
Treasure Act Compliance
All members must understand and comply with the UK Treasure Act 1996 and all associated reporting requirements. Any finds that may qualify as Treasure must be reported to the appropriate Finds Liaison Officer (FLO) or Coroner within the legally required timeframe of 14 days. Failure to report qualifying finds is a criminal offence. The club accepts no liability for any legal consequences arising from a member's failure to comply with the Treasure Act.
Landowner Agreement
Members must never detect on any land without the explicit prior permission of the landowner or tenant. Any find with a total value exceeding £1,000 shall be shared fairly with the landowner, unless a separate written agreement to the contrary has been made prior to detecting on that land. Members are responsible for understanding and honouring any specific terms agreed with individual landowners.
